SS-Sturmbannführer WOLFERSEDER
*11.1.1905
+28.7.1990
SS no: 252 387
August Wolferseder served in Bayr. Landespolizei at the beginning of his career. In 1930 he was promoted to police lieutenant. He then served in the SA school, where he was an instructor and later ran a training course for SA NCOs. In the SA he was promoted to Sturmfuhrer. In 1935 he joined the SS at the same time as Karl Maria Demelhuber, whom he knew from his service in the police, and after joining the SS he became his adjutant in the 1st SS Deutschland Regiment. At the request of K. M. Demelhuber, he was sent as a company commander to the 2nd SS Germania Regiment. Before the beginning of World War II, he joined the 3rd SS Regiment Der Fuhrer. In 1940 he received the Iron Cross 2nd Class for his participation in the fighting in Poland with the SS-VT Artillery Regiment.
In 1941 he was assigned to the newly formed 5th SS Wiking Division. With it he went through the entire Russian campaign and also took part in the Battle of Korsun-Cherkass, where the Wiking Division and the 5th SS Wallonien Infantry Brigade had to fight their way out of encirclement. In the summer of 1944 he was severely wounded in eastern Poland when Russian planes attacked the train he was on at the time. In 1945 he surrendered to Allied forces on Austrian territory.
August Wolferseder was very well acquainted with SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Karl Maria Demelhuber and with SS Wiking Division Commander SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Otto Herbert Gille, as is evident from the voices about his career found in his NARA file. His career is very well regarded.....
Ring comes with Martin Toman´s COA + NARA SS folder.
